30-30 Cartridge carriers?

I am looking for a way to hold extra cartridges for 30-30 ammo that would allow me to "grab and go" my 336 and some extra ammo. I like the look of leather (I have some older loop style cartridge carriers for my 308 ammo) but I thought the folks on this forum might be able to share some photos of what they use in the field to carry extra rounds for their lever guns....not handy in making leather goods, but I am willing to buy something that would look good and be easy to carry.

aaahhh, I misunderstood your first post. I also like the idea of an "off gun" way to carry ammo, but I already have so much stuff on my belt that I would need something like a bandoleer or a "possibles bag"

I'm not usually trekking off in to wilderness, or taking part in cull hunts where the shooting could get hot and heavy. I'm getting in the truck and driving a few miles for a few hours in the woods, and the law allows me only 2 deer per day. I load 6 in to my rifle, and on a good day I come back with 4.

It looks like Triple K and Hunters leather both have box designs where you can remove the plastic insert from a box of factory cartridges and use that inside the stitched leather box which has a leather flap and attaches to your belt. I think I'll go with one of them from whoever has the best price...I've never seen these in any local sporting goods stores.

I use the black elastic slip on ones. Also, I use a Hunter leather box as linked by "smokeeater2". We get some rain here in the wetter areas of WA state so leather isn't as popular with me, wet is heavy so synthetics get the nod mostly. The black synthetic slip on's need to be changed out every couple of years or so. You'll know when as the elastic loops take a set and lost cartridges are a possibility.

I use a sling that has loops for an additional 4 rounds. I forget right now who makes it, but I can check later. Then a few rounds in my pocket of course.

I have a leather cartridge holder for both my 444S and my 336CS .30-30. They are made by A.E. Nelson leather Co. I use the five round capacity one, but they also have a ten round model. I've attached a couple pictures of what they look like. I've been really happy with them. They last a long time, they are handmade in the USA, caliber specific, and the bottom part of the cartridge holder protects the tips of your bullets very well.

On my 336, I have a black leather basketweave sling and butt-cuff holder that holds 6 extra rounds. I also use a cheap Uncle Mike's nylon cartridge belt that holds another 20 rounds (a full box), and is long enough I can wear it as a bandoleer.

I bought one of the Hunter leather carriers that uses the plastic cartridge holders from inside a factory 20 round box to keep the bullets from moving around. I am going to get one of the Triple K leather ammo carriers of the same design as a gift for my son....appreciate the suggestions and ideas. Lots of experts on this site...a ton of experience.
