I have found a 1970 336 100th anniversary 30-30 with a straight stock and 4x32 scope....for $250. The entire gun has little specks were it looks like it wants to breakout in rust..... the gun looks nice, but is hardly mint....Do you think there is any additional worth with "100th Anniversary" model with regards to an investment for the future?

I don't know about it being more in the future but its a Marlin I would buy it for that price in a minute!!!

To me the 1970 is not worth a nickle more than any other. However that is a Texan and 250 is a very good price for a Texan of any vintage. Some 0000 steel wool and oil will take care of the freckles.

Buy it, buy it, buy it.

No, they made thousands of Marlins in 1970 with the stock medallion; only dealers trying to fool someone over how "rare" these models are ask a premium, and some guys don't like the looks of the medallian and avoid that model altogether. As to the "rust rash" on your gun, it is probably the result of imporper case storage. Disassemble your gun, being careful not to booger screw slots; once you have the gun apart, take some fine 0000 steel wool and quality gun oil; apply the gun oil to the metal surfaces and carefully work the damaged surfaces with your steel wool. This treatment will remove the rust skim and not damage bluing; but will not remove metal pitting. Clean all the other parts while the gun is disassembled to include the inside of the magazine tube. When finished, rub some Old English scratch cover into the stock finishes and you will be surprised at the resulting warm wood glow. Good luck

It has no collector value because of the medallion. But, $250 is a bargain price for a Texan. I wouldn't hesitate to buy it for a second at that price. Get it before someone else jumps on it.

Don't let the Freckles scare you, oil her up and go shooting ;D

Kinda like the homely girl post? ;D

I couldn't pass that up....

Seriously, some 0000 brass wool along with WD-40 will clean it up without harming the blueing. It worked for me on an ol' Winchester 30-30.

The .30-30 is much cheaper to shoot and just as deadly. You stole it.

That is just excellent, a case of Grand Larceny Marlin.

I had to look away from the gun rack quickly....they had pre-safety 30-30 with a 3x9x40 scope very very nice for $270 and another newer marlin in 30-30 that some one really put some deep gouges in the stock for $225 Next time i am there I will get some photos...almost all his guns are overpriced except the Marlins.

woodtick007, seems as if more cases of Grand Larceny Marlin are in you future. Keep us in the loop, John.
