You can never have enough Marlin lever actions, especially older classics like this one. It's a must!

 

Very nice, yrs ago I found a 1956 Marlin 336sc 35 rem in a pawn shop, very cool old guns. One of my favorites.

 

I would never let a filled hole in the correct location in the buttstock prevent a purchase go ahead and spend the money, you will never regret owning a classic Marlin. enough enabling? or should I go on? good luck with your decision and shoot straight, gewehr

 

You don’t come across an unmolested 336 model “A” Waffle Top very often, if ever. Buy the 1952 and don’t look back.

 

If you need a scope keep the rifle you have, don't drill a unmolested waffle top. Especially an A model in 35.

 

No risk of that, I would never deface a classic rifle. I will be looking at the rifle again tomorrow to see if we can come to a deal. If we do, I will be in the market for a Lymon peep sight for it.

Well, I was mistaken, it was not a "A" but it was a "SC", but I still wanted it. I did get him to meet my price and went ahead and picked it up for 8 Bills. Got her cleaned up and ordered a Lyman 66LA sight from Midway $109. Here are some pics, the old gal is in pretty decent for her age.

You did good in my opinion. You would be hard pressed to find another in that good of shape for that price.

Could snap a picture of the buttplate for me. My 1952 came with a recoil pad that has seen better days. I just want to get the correct plate.

Nice rifle and hard to find in that caliber and condition. Like I said I need a new buttplate and mine was D&Ted.

I’ve got an A but I am seriously considering Case Color and trimming the forearm to 93 dimensions.

 

Mice grab. I've got a 1951 waffle top SC in 35 Rem, long story as to how I got it but...not as nice as yours plus it was already drilled and tapped. Shoots right on with scope. It's in great shape and I got it for $150. Don't believe I'll find another deal like that !! 😄

 

You have one of the best(in my never to be humble opinion) guns Marlin ever built. 1950’s SC in 35 REM is top shelf.

My new Lyman 66KA sight finally arrived, got out and put a couple round on paper at 60 yds. I guess I am going to have to replace the front sight, I have the peep down as low as it will go and I am still 3" high.
Any suggestions on what Hight front sight might be needed?

I squeezed another inch down from the top middle shot but that as low as the peep will go.

The action is super smooth and the trigger breaks just under 2 lbs. Really happy with this ol Marlin.
