Is there any upgrades that could be done with the 1895 in 45-70 (internal)? Thanks in advance.

Check out Ranger Point Precision, Wild West Guns, Boyd’s., Bear tooth Mercantile, poke around on eBay. There are a ton of aftermarket parts for Marlins. My first order of business is to get rid of the cheap plastic magazine tube follower if your gun has that. I think when Remington owned Marlin they went to the plastic magazine tube followers. Just never understood why Marlin did that. Creep around on this site there are tons of photos that have been submitted from member that modified their rifles. You have something in mind for yours? Share your thoughts and others can help with the specifics. Tons of articles here on tuning up a factory Marlin to get better performance.

Let's face it - installing a "Happy Trigger" has made all of us (who have them) well ........... just happy. I dropped in a Bear Proof ejector at the same time and put the original one on the side to have as an emergency spare. Other than that, the screw that holds the lever in can be replaced with a thumb screw that will make your life easier if you clean your 1895 often.

And you may just want to get an 1895 bore guide if you're doing all that cleaning. 😁 😁

I like the look of the WWG trigger happy kit better than the ranger point trigger but they both work great! I've upgraded my follower and ejector too and I put a WWG large loop lever. I do like the ranger point medium loop lever better so I did a squeeze job on my WWG to reshape it to be closer to the RP. I am very happy with all of the upgrades I added and being able to install them yourself is gratifying.

Sure, all you need is $. The significant ones are a good recoil pad and sights -- optics or peep. If you are on a budget not much is needed but the previous things mentioned, and if possible handload. Probably better to spend the money on ammo and get familiar with the rifle. The recoil pad is useful if you decide to up the velocity. Good sights/optics are always useful. Ability to use a rifle skillfully is probably the most important thing. This comes with a bit of practice as each rifle is a bit different, however 45-70 ammo, even handloads are not cheap.

Forget the custom work unless you have more money than I have. Anyone who can operate a screwdriver can work on the 336/1895. Plenty of good on-line info how to's out there. Internal polisshing helps goes a long ways. I also recommend RPP loading gate with the surrounding polishing. I like a smooth loading rifle

I noticed more trouble loading FTX bullets with the Wild West Guns aluminum magazine follower. I also had my 1st jam with the rifle today.

Not sure what exactly caused it? But that follower is coming out of the gun no doubt!

Edit:

I have not taken the follower out. It stays. I believe the problem is loading my gummy tips a little too long on accident. Will follow up on this if evidence shows otherwise. I doubt it though....
