Both.

Straight: Love my 1895GS with a straight walnut stock. I really like the feel of the slimness of the stock around the lever loop - feels like I'm holding a bat handle and I love the way I can manipulate it one handed. The forend is slim too and feels nice when I am griping and shouldering the rifle.

Pistol: I also have an 1895STP 'limited' with a 16" barrel. The pistol grip and forend have a much fatter feel to them. Kinda cool to have a short stocky trapper/brush gun. It's got attitude.

They're both great. If I had to choose, I'd choose both.

I like the pistol grip when shooting from the bench because it's easier on my hand. Looks wise, I like them both. Most my lever guns have straight stocks though.

I like both fordifferent reasons. I like the traditional look of the straight stock on thecowboy. It's a classic. On the short brush guns like the GBL I prefer thepistol grip. Seems like it helps with maneuverability and recoil.

Try Boyd's, Numrich, and ebay. But first try our For Sale forum. Post a WTB (want to buy). There's usually someone who has an extra stock or two lying around they don't need. Or someone making a PG to straight conversion.

Almost forgot. Straight stocks only at this house. The only pistol grips here are on pistols, where they belong!
