The star of the movie is a FWS officer working as a hunter on an Indian Reservation. He carries a Marlin 1895 stainless steel with laminated stock. It looks like a short barrel, maybe a guide gun. An early scene shows him reloading ammo and later in the main action scene, he takes out several bad guys in the big shoot out.

I might get one of those new Ruger Marlin 1895 rifles

That movie has been driving SBL sales since it was first released, The 1895SBL was one of Remington's best sellers and hard to find, prices have now reached the outer ozone with the Remington bankruptcy and production shutdown. Gunbroker prices keep climbing, everyone still wants one. I believe Ruger will revive this model due to it's sales record so we should see prices ease in the future.

I spent much of my youth in the Wind River country (Fremont County). Most of the filming was done elsewhere though, but it rang true on the issues on the Wind River Reservation. Oh by the way, the culprits in the real story were Native Americans, but the PC police made them white.

There is a lot of oil drilling on and around the Res, but I'm pretty sure that none of the drillers are operating under classified government oversight and I'm also pretty sure that none of 'em have government issued Class 3 weapons. Oh well, it was entertainment.

Speaking of the Wind River Country, I just left a family reunion in Lander yesterday and a shoot a thon was part of the festivities out on the high lonesome of Fremont County. No 45/70 action though, although there is a nice circa 1975 1895 in my brother's vault.
