So....I was tossing together an order from Midway two days ago and then I decided to look at bullets by size. So, I come across the gummy tips sized at .321 for the 32 special, and say in my grey matter.....hey...those will work in my 32-40 (slugged at .320). Now really.....I know I should use a JSP bullet that is .319 or just at .320......so why did I buy these .321's?

Today I began to wonder that.....and did a search for load data. You know how hard it is to find load data for this bullet for the 32-40? Well...it's hard 'cause nobody loads it. Well, anyway.....it's good that Midway take's stuff back. :banghead:

I did not send 'em back. In fact, I haven't got 'em yet. Do you have any load data? Remember, my barrel slugs at .320. If you have some load data I will give it a shot (pun intended). My Winchester is the modern John Wayne model. Just a shooter. A pretty one....but just a shooter.

Thanks.

Well, just for kicks before I sent these bullets back I sent an email off to Sierra Bullets. I've contacted them a few times in the last ten years for some questions that had perplexed me and have always found their "bullet guys" to be very knowledgable and very helpful. They will answer your questions even when it doesn't pertain to their bullets. Hey...if that doesn't get you to buy their bullets...I don't know what will. (I do buy Sierra bullets whenever they fit the "need").

Anyway....I'm glad I did as this was their response:

"Just start with a beginning load, and work up carefully, checking for pressure signs.
I found a load for the IMR 3031 and the IMR 4198.

IMR 3031 Starting load 25 grains……………….Maximum load 28 grains
IMR 4198 Starting Load 18.8 grains……………Maximum load 22 grains"

So....now I have a few loads to work on!! I'll load a few up and post the results for those few 32-40 reloading guys out there who are also searching for load data.
