I do not think most folks would want to use bullets that light. At least for hunting. Might make a good load for paper or for reduced recoil at less than max charges.

 

I tried 158 grain xtp's about 40 years ago, went through the target any way but straight. I have used the 150 and 200 grain corelocks with success and the Sierra pro hunters are my favorite.

 

The lightest bullet that I have used in any of my 35's were some 158gr swc.
Was some time ago so I don't recall for sure, but
probably over some Unique. Just for plinking.
I hunt with a 200 gr RCBS clone from my Lee mold.

Never saw a need for anything lighter than the 200 grain Core Lokt's in my Remington pumps.

 

Years ago my brother loaded some pistol bullets for his .35 Rem 336. Worked up some "pretty hot loads" and used them to disintegrate Jack Rabbits He sold his .35 but I've got one now if he ever finds the load data.

 

I have loaded and shot 140 Hammers but nothing exciting to report. I used LVR 44,44.5 and 45 grain loads. Nothing is circled in my loads so nothing was accurate enough to get excited about. The OAL was 2.395" 20" barrel. I tried 3031 40 grains with about the same results. It would probably be worth your while to call the folks at Hammer and see what they suggest. I think I have read that using faster powders due to lower bullet tension and the need to speed it up. Without the data, I am a little cautious on what else to try in it. I have shot 158 XTP with 44.1 LVR with acceptable accuracy. An MOA load in my rifle with 180 XTP is 42 grains LVR compressed load. My rifle is not yours, use care when taking others load data. It seems like all rifles are different. If you run across a winner, let us know.

 

I have good results with 137gr Shock Hammers in 375 Win.

No published load data. I used LD 140gr Controlled Chaos 30-30 load data and Hornady 140gr MFX 30-30 load data for guidance... 375 Win can handle higher pressure... Still working on a load... So far nice accurate load with 34.5gr of H4198 with 2450fps avg and low spread... Figure the 137gr are a versatile option if I go predator hunting...

At 2400+ fps the 137gr loads already matches Underwood 140gr CC and Hornady LE 140gr MFX factory FPS. And, in the higher pressure 375 Win, a 137gr bullet should be able to well exceed 30-30 copper 140gr loads . . . .
