Ok was just at a LGS and looked at a marlin they had on the shelf. 30-30, short barrel (maybe 18"?), straight grip and squared lever end. The rifle is very nice, I looked it over good. Serial indicates 81', and priced @ $399. Now I feel really stupid, the store was about to close and it skipped my mind to take note of the model. I'm guessing it could be a Texan? What else might it be? I'm not caught up on all models yet, I'm still learning.
