Savage 99 Barrel Stud issues- desperate!

Hi all, picked up a brush gun in .358 winchester a couple months ago, after a few rounds (factory) the fore arm started loosening so i tightened it down, I shot it again and the forearm popped off, the stud was stripped from the barrel dovetail- Replaced the stud wth a new one, fired a few (3) rounds and it did it again- I have pics in my album, the gun is otherwise a blast to shoot,

I shot first with it strapped down in a leadsled, second time was off hand- could the fore end be too snug between the barrel stud and the receiver? It is like something is ripping the stud right out-

thanks for any and all help and advice!

if it aligns good, don't force th' next one, so it sits tight agin the flat, and then peen th' sucker down real careful-like. seems likely ye're pullin' it some when ye tighten it; them screws can put a lotta torque on a dovetail, so don't tighten it past what's comfortable. oh, and buy two when you git yer next 'n (stud, that is, not 99) ((oh, wait a minute! did i say don't buy another 99? that should disqualify me from givin' advice right there!))
and mind yer topknot!
