Have any of you pondered this rifle? I really doubt that I will be purchasing any Remington leveractions so I started to think about additions from the other offerings out there. If this was chambered in 444 Marlin, I would have already prepaid a purchase.

I do have a in stock notification with Buds and a couple of other places including local shops. I might buy the thing when it arrives but I sure would like to find out more about it and do some measuring to see if it will be a 28K PSI rifle or on par with the Marlin. Any of you guys hear anything along this subject line?

If they introduced a 32 Win Spl, that would be an immediate buy for me as well. Taurus/Rossi has become very innovative over the last decade. I have gone to Taurus in my hand guns, 9 of them, so I'm going to start watching their long guns as well.

I really like the 3 Marlins I have(336RC,1895GBL,1895GS), but I also have3 Rossi lever guns (357,44m,45colt) as well Really like those too. They are good strong actions, a little stiff when new, but fun to break in, as are all guns!
Don't think the Rossi rifles will dissappoint anyone, other than not being a Marlin.
Thank, Robert.

Well Pelican, I certainly have to agree with you. Some people say they are cheaper and not as good as Marlins, you only have to look at what is coming out of the factory these days. I know they will not be as good as the older Marlins but it is an alternative iif you want a new rifle but don't want to pay the earth for it. If you don't like the Rossi, well then Mossberg has a newy in lever action and they are a great buy and cheap too.

My son has a reservation on a new 45-70 Henry. They should be coming out later this year. Not sure the configuration, but would anticipate exactly what they have in 30-30. The wood may not be exciting, but I've shot one of their 30-30's, and I'd buy one if I needed it. We have no plans for Marlin forthcoming either.

I wouldn't have any issues in buying one. I have an M92 in 45 Colt, case hardened with the long octagon barrel. Everytime I go to the range I have at least one person ask "how old is that thing?". Then I tell them it's a reproduction. Great finish quality.

I put a Gunslinger spring kit in it ($28 @ Brownells), so you can forget all that filing and sanding non-sense; it's as slick as greased butter and shoot's ragged holes at 50 yards. I've even taken clays on the berm at 200 yards with it. Iron sights. So I can't bad mouth them.

Given Remlins current state of QC, I think it would be a fine alternative. Unless you can find an 1895 Cowboy - then the Rossi would have no chance.

I've got all the "used" Marlins I need in that I have all the models and cartridges offered. I do not think that Remington could build a levergun that I would be interested in but I remain so in the Rossi 45-70. I guess as soon as one hits South Texas I will buy it to see what I think of it. Like I noted, I made the mistake of buying one Taurus pistol and ended up with nine of them and you couldn't get me to switch.

Keep us posted will you? I'd like to know how it looks & functions also. I wonder if the stocks would fit a Marlin? The camo stock on the 30-30 would be great for hunting season, then swap back to the walnut for general purpose.

45-70 and .410? Awesome. I knew the Rio Grande in 30-30 was out but I didn't know anything about the 45-70. Unless Remington can get their QC under control, there might be a new kid on the block smokin' the market with factory new goodies. Sorry, but Mossberg stinks. However, I'll keep my 35 year old 1895 and won't shun any of the pre-remlin's if the condition and price are right. ;D But that Rio Grande sure looks nice.... ;)

My Rio Grande has a "legacy" look about it I like.

It was made in 2011 but looks like it was made in 1911.

I don't know, any thing with the Taurus name still brings bad memories to mind. Never had any luck with Taurus.

Don't know about that, I think Taurus is one of the few manufacturers that is putting any kind of effort into their products and standing behind them. I went to an all Taurus lineup for my cast bullet development work and I've been very pleased with what I've experienced. Here is what I'm shooting...

I've had warranty issues on three of the pistols but one issue with two of the pistols would not have been noticed or been a factor for the average shooter. The 25PLY and PT111 had non-concentric bore/chambers identified through the chamber impressions I do for imaging. The pistols shot well but Taurus replaced the barrels under the warranty. The PT111 was gone 4 days but the 25PLY took five weeks as it is a brand new model and parts needed to be inventoried. The third problem was the rear sight popped off of my PT138. I simply needed a new screw. They made two attempts to send me the correct sight/screw but both received where wrong so they had me send the pistol back to them and I had it back in four days as well. The Taurus lifetime warranty is on the firearm and not based on who was the original purchaser.

The PT745 has replaced my Glock 36 for good as the PT111 has done for my Glock 17. I'm going to start working on revolver bullets in 2012 and I will have a complete lineup of Taurus conceal carry pistols. Started with the 450 which is not available any more as Taurus has gone with the 45 Colt/410 cylinders. The 450 is strictly a 45 Colt and with my 290-grain bullet is quite a hoss!

I'm not worried about Taurus, I'm impressed. Now back to that 45-70...

As I recall S&W used to be built in the Taurus factory in Brazil, and Taurus is using a lot of the machinery, skills etc they acquired. I've had a Taurus Tracker 4'' 44 mag for several years at 28 ozs it is a joy to carry. With 5 rounds of Buffalo Bore 270 gr fp @ 1400 fps I don't feel undergunned. The fit, finish, function, and quality is on par or better than the S&W 460 V I own. It fits my hands better than any revolver or pistol I have.

I handled 3 different Rio Grande 30-30's the other day and was impressed.
They feel, and look a lot like a Marlin.... not Remlin.

Evedently they assume everybody is going to scope them, because all 3 were wearing scope mounts.

It's also good that the FS is barrel mounted.

If I were in the market for a new leveraction, I would consider them first.
If Henry made their lever guns with loading gates instead of mag tubes, they might be my first consideration.

I wish that they had sent the gun with the scope mount & hardware separate in a bag rather than already attached to the gun.

I still like to hunt my levers with iron sights and the Rio Grande has a decent set of factory sights on it.

Neither of the current calibers the rifle is offered in is a ballistic long distance runner & have garden hose trajectories.

The .30-30 & .45-70 could be called 150 and perhaps 200 yard deer guns with the new Hornady LeveRevolution ammo.

Both the PSP Hornady FTX bullets and the LeveRevolution powder are available to hand loaders if you think you can better the factory ammo.

I'm lazy and if factory ammo gives me hunting accuracy (1.5" or better 3-shot groups @ 100 yds) I'll use it.

I don't waste pounds of powder, hundred of primers & bullets, mm of barrel steel & more importantly hours of my time trying to make a bench rest rifle out of a < $400 "grab off the rack" saddle gun.......sorry, I'd rather spend my time & money on more useful pursuits.

I bought a rossi 92 in 357 mag. last October.Took it to the range and could not hit the paper at 50 yards. It shot off the paper about a foot high and a foot or so left.Sent it back.Got it back with a taller front sight that was hanging out of the dovetail about .100" to the left and the barrel was dinged where the drove it in the dovetail.Sent it back.Three months later they sent it back with the front sight centered and a target shot at 25 yards with a group off to the left. Not a good group either.I took it to the range couldn't hit the paper at 100.Maybe 2 or 3 feet high and left.Put a Marbles tang sight on and it did not have enough windage to come close to zero.Had a very heated disscussion on the phone. They agreed to replace the rifle. They refused to give me my money back and so did the dealer,Collectors Firearms in Houston,TX.After another circle jerk over the FFL and trying to get them to ship it.I had them send it to another dealer.I put it on Gun Broker and sold it the next day NIB.After 8 1/2 months of foolishness I won't be buying anything from Taurus or Rossi.

Nice to hear some opinions from members who have actually handled and fired a Rossi before rather than the usual parroted bashing.
