My new 1895 had a small sliver of walnut wood missing from the buttstock at the spot where the tang transitions to the action. I got confirmation that my rifle was received at Remington's N.Y. repair facility on 10/10/2013. I got an E-Mail from Remington that my repaired rifle was shipped on 10/12/2013. Hard to beat that turn-around time...Just sayin!:adore:

I would prefer never to have to use customer service, but in case you do need the service, it is nice to know that they are so prompt.

The turn around time is excellent, hopefully the repair is also.

For the sake of the owner, I hope so..............I hope the stocks match in color and grain, and I hope the fits are consistant with what should be expected.

I recently ordered a new plain/barrel band stock set for a 70s production 1894/.44mag, and received a checkered/nose cap stock set from them. I called to ask what the hay, and they said there would be a new set in the mail in a few weeks. When I asked how I should return the incorrect set, the guy said to keep it and use it till the right one arrives. Now I have two sets. I call that great service! Now, if they would build Marlins with the same pride we'd have something...

It has been to spec, mechanically. I reworked the trigger per one of the threads on this site and it now breaks at about 3.5# (measured with a fishing scale). The action was stiff when brand new but after working it a couple hundred times while watching TV it has smoothed out nicely. Accuracy out of the box was excellent (with factory 300 grain Winchester ammo) I have not found a reload (so far) that does as well. I am going to load 10 rounds with IMR 4895 tonight (405 Gr. Jacketed Flat Nose Bullets) and try again tomorrow.:hmmmm:

I've had really great results using the Rem. 405gr SP & Varget & H4198 velocities in the low 1400s & extreem spreads of single digits. I've seldom had single digit extreem spreads in any rifle. I don't know what Jacketed FN bullet you are using, but even with lead bullets those velocities shouldn't lead & are a LOT of fun to shoot. They are trapdoor specs. & should be good in any rifle warranted for Smokeless.

Its great they fix the probems fast its just too bad they expect customers to be their QC department.
