Here is my new 1894 next to it's older brother. Both are the recent limited editions from "Remlin." Yes, there are some scuffs on the 1895 buttstock. They happened sometime during a recent successful deer hunt. Not the first and most likely not the last blemishes on both as they will be used often. 1 of 1500 for both, but I do not care about how the other 1499 are used. Mine will be used as if it were a standard model. I could take or leave the gold inlay, doesn't bother me either way. If I had a choice, I suppose I would do without it.
The octagon barrel of the later produced 1894 seems like it has crisper edges. i suppose that is going in a good direction for Marlin.
The 1894 did not like my selection of bullet or measurements (or "mis" measurements) concocted on a first set of handloads using unfired brass, but snap caps and factory winchester 250 grain lead round nose ran as they should 10 plus 1, each time, over and over. I purchased one of these https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B014TBPU1E/ref=od_aui_detailpages00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 and will find a good combination of loads with different duties.
My Skinner Express sight arrived in the mail and will install that before I make it to the range hopefully on December 9th.
