I am interested in purchasing a .22wmg rifle, do not want a bolt action. I would like to have a semi-auto, but would settle for a lever gun. I am sure on this site I can get plenty of opinion on my quest.

I have yet to see a satisfactory .22 WMR semi, all seem to have either accuracy or function issues, except for the 10/22 Mag, which was heavy as sin with the steel receiver, kinda took the fun out of having a 10/22 platform. Given your preferences for a non-bolt rifle I'd look for 1) Marlin 57M (been there, done that, traded them both off and regret it every minute) or 2) Win. 94/22 Mag. (as above, still wish I had it back too!, OK, I'm not a fast learner). A distant buddy had the CZ and had issues, function wise. I've not owned one at this point. If you NEED an auto I believe Magnum Research still makes a 10/22 like actioned one. In any case $500 is going to pretty much be the starting point for the Marlin, Win, or MR in really nice shape. At least the ones I've seen in my neck of the woods.

I have seen a used marlin 57m for $500.00 locally also, but wanted to see what was available in sem-auto. I am leaning towards the Marlin but I am trying to be patient as this is not a gotta hve right now issue. although with the talk of gun laws wanted to get all I want and need now.

I appreciate your input and the cz issues were mentioned by cthulhufan.

I've been lucky, i have a 57m, an 1894, and a 883ss, all of course in 22mag. I haven't paired more than 280(57m) and the low WA the 1894(175), all those otd also.
If i had to choose one? They all shoot good but i think i would have to go with the 883ss, even though that 1894 its gorgeous. Good luck with your search, i always find what I'm not really looking for when i least expect it (was looking for a 39a when i found the 1894).

I don't know where your at in va but there is a 57m at green top sporting goods for $499. I have and 1894m BTW and wouldn't trade it for the world. I don't see much benefit in an auto 22wmr over a lever

I saw the one at Green top listed the other day but have not had time to go by and look at it. I have also found a 922 but know nothing about this model. It appears that it is finicky on the mechanicals. I will stop by green top next week when passing through the holy city.

The one at greentop is a 1970 centenial with the 1870-1970 coin in the buttstock. the stock has been refinished by someone but they did a poor job. lovely little rifle and very easy to strip and re do the stock the right way. IMO I would take it home but not for quite the $499 they are asking.

I have two semi-auto .22WMRs, a Volquartsen that is absolutely sweet, zero function issues and extremely accurate. The other is a Remington 597 HBLS and after installing an aftermarket hammer and replacing the plastic magazines it has been excellent with zero issues.

Lots of other excellent suggestions here, too. I may just have to get one of those CZs, too.
