Been on the lookout for a couple of years for a nice .357 lever that is priced right (for me). One dealer in a nearby city has racks of new "sample" guns that are reasonably priced and always a lot of Marlin lever guns. but every time they had a .357 they were either NY made and/or looked poorly made. Last week I checked them out there was a 1894 .357 CT made, JM stamped, nice dark walnut that fit the gun well so it came home with me.
there are 4 stamps in front of the receiver on the left side of the barrel.
The serial # starts 91xx so it is a 2009 manufacture?
There are 4 stamps on left side of barrel:
1-- a mark that I can't quite make out. Looks like a "c" or a backwards "5".
2-- "BNP" with a crown above it. This mark is also on the receiver. British mark for Birmingham or British Nitro Proof.
3-- crossed swords with the numbers "1", "3", "0", and a "B" or an "8" at the top.
4-- the well known "JM" stamp
#1 and 3 I haven't figured out. Any help or info would be appreciated.
