I will be haveing neck surgery in the next two or three weeks but have not got the date yet.I will need a ACDF which is a fusion on vertabrae going from C3 to C6.I am in a lot of pain and have been off work for 5 months and know I have to get it or it could damage nerves.I am now 53 and looking forward to one day living to be 90 so I can grow up with my son who is now 9 and loves to hunt. This whole year has been extremely hard with so much pain constantly. This surgery I so wish I did not have to undergo but I have put my trust totally in the good Lord.I am still praying for a miracle first but how ever he wants it done its in good hands. So I ask you folks to please pray for a miracle first and if I have to have surgery for a great outcome.I do have a excellent spine surgeon who also was a military doctor and was head of the spine center at the Naval Medical Hospital in Portsmouth,Virginia for 7 years and is well recommended.I just look forward to carrying my Marlin 45-70 and see my son carrying his Marlin 30-30 and hopefully hunting this year.Just also thought I would share I think this is the best shooting site and general forums on the internet and is by far my favorite.A lot of good down to earth folks on this site. Thanks for your prayers!Mike

Mike, I will include you in my prayers. Had something similar myself at c-4,5&6 cervical laminectomy. Not quite a week in hospital, addidtional six weeks in a cervical collar, without which.... a bobblehead doll comes to mind. As to outcome, I had nerve damage before and it remains. I walk like a drunken sailor, tind to drop items from my hands and gettin those darn shirt buttons is a morning spent in frustation. So, good luck to you and sincerely hope it goes well.

Hi vaslugger, My husband Brian in florida just had surgery for a cyst between lumbar 4 -lumbar 5(lower back). The cyst was removed and the spine fused. He is getting along better and going for physical therapy. You will probably have a similar procedure, but in the cervical(neck) region. It will take alot of time to heal. I am praying for a speedy operation and fast recovery.

Let me join my wife in prayer for your neck problem.

Heavenly Father, we know that you are truly the Great Healer and that you are a kind and merciful God. We ask that if it is in Your will to reach down and touch Mike's neck and heal it, we pray that you will do so and heal him so that he is back to normal, without pain. If it is in Your will that he should be cared for by a practitioner, we pray that you will guide the surgeon's hand and grant him great skill and wisdom and that You will grant that surgeon the ability to resolve the neck problem and remove the pain from Mike's body. May You grant him a speedy recovery so that he will be able to go out hunting with his son this year. We know how important this is to him. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Saviour. Amen.

Mike, as my wife just said, I had spinal surgery on August 17th and am in physical therapy now. The pain has been greatly reduced even though I still have to walk with a cane. I hope to get rid of the cane within as short a time as possible and be ready to hunt this year as well. I know that the Lord has a plan for me as He has for you. We can but follow along in His plan and surrender all control to Him. I consider myself a mere spectator, watching the Lord's plan unfold in my life. He is in charge and whatever is in His will is just fine with me. As I said before this spinal surgery I just had and the quadruple bypass surgery I went through in 2002, if He was going to call me home, that was alright by me. If He had in His plan to allow me to survive the surgery, that was OK too. Whichever way, I could not lose. Either way I'd be a winner. That has been my attitude ever since I got saved, and it has seen me through a number of troubles. May God bless you and keep you. May He watch over you and grant you peace.

Thanks so much to all of you for all your prayers as it is so greatly appreciated more than you know.I never like asking for prayer for myself as it makes me feel weak as a person but the Lord has shown me we are all just human and he wants us to depend upon him for all our needs.I have been a weight lifter for 40 years and like to depend upon my own strength a lot of times but no matter how strong you are we all need the Lords power and healing touch to get us thru each and every day.Brian in Florida thanks for sharing and for the prayer.I know you are so well aware of the pain that comes from nerves being pinched and the struggles after having surgery.I am sure we will both look back in due time and just see this as another obstacle in life that we have to over come. When I was 14 I had a horse rare up and fall backwards and land on me breaking both pelvic bones at once. When I was 42 I slipped off the back of a truck and tore out my ACL and had to have reconstructive knee surgery.Just looking back I see how the good Lord has healed me and delivered me from all of this.I still am praying so hard for a miracle and claiming all the healing scriptures in the Bible and wont give up for he never gave up on me as he gave his son Jesus for me and by his stripes we are healed the word says and I believe that. But no matter how he choses to do it I am in good hands with the Lord.Once again thanks so much for your prayers. Mike

Hi vaslugger, You stated that the surgery will be in 2-3 weeks on 9/23/10. Has the surgery taken place yet? We are still all concerned about how the procedure went if it occurred. Hope everything is going well.

Healing is His will. He gave us authority in His name to heal the sick, cast out devils, raise the dead, etc, etc. Mike, it's a done deal, bro. Healing is a part of our redemption. We have authority in this earth to command the healing power of God. Spinal damage and pain are not allowed in the kingdom of God and they shouldn't be allowed in your body or anywhere near your house. Tell that neck to line up with the Word of God and receive its healing. Be specific. Command pain to go, in the name of Jesus, and command the healing power of God to flow through your neck and body. I'm in full agreement with you, bro. Continue to thank the good Lord and praise Him for your healing until you see the full manifestation of it....and then keep on thanking Him and praising Him. Mike, John 10:10 is the dividing line. God is all about your health. Once again, healing IS His will.

Words from a pastor that I greatly admire come to mind... "Never water down the Bible to match your lack of experience. Believe God to elevate your life and experience to match the Bible."

Mike, Hebrews 11:6 says that without faith it is impossible to please God. Bro, that scripture tells me that faith turns Him on! Cj

Once again thanks for the prayers as I do appreciate them!ThuttyThutty I know and understand all that you said. But timing is always in the good Lords hands and who really knows how the Lord wants to do things.Look at Job and all that he went thru he lost it all but in the end was given twice as much but it was only in Gods timing.Thats where I am at I am a strong man of faith but the first to admit that I do not understand all things but when you have fully commited them to the Lord with all your heart you dont need to.I know many healing scriptures and claim them for myself everyday and yes it is hard when I dont see a miracle immediately when I pray but my trust is totally in him no matter what!My surgery date is for October 22 so please pray especially for me on that day! Thanks Again. Mike

Job fell into fear over his children and that gave the enemy legal right to slip in. But in the end Job remained a man of righteousness and integrity, as I'm sure you are. And you have a new and better Covenant along with the Spirit within. Keep standing on the Word, bro, and receive your healing. Your healing is now. What the enemy meant for evil, God has already provided good on your behalf through Redemption. It's a done deal. You have everything you need, not a double-portion but ALL of Jesus.

You have my prayers and agreement. Keep us posted. Godspeed. Cj

Hi vaslugger, Did the operation take place on 10/22 as scheduled? I hope it went well. Usually there is a lot of pain after this type of surgery. We are all hoping that you have a speedy recovery. Get back to the forum when you can cope with the neck pain.

Thanks so much to everyone for the prayers as they were greatly appreciated. The surgeon said my surgery went well as they opened up the three pinched nerves to give me some pain relief. They removed three discs and replaced them with plastic discs that are filled with donor bone and protein. Also a titanium plate was installed over the discs and held in with screws to keep everything in place. He said it would be two to four weeks before I see much pain relief from the pinched nerves. My prayer to everyone is to pray for a complete fusion so that it all turns to bone as it is supposed to do.If all goes as planned I will be back to work in 8 to 12 weeks. He also said I would be able to lift weights again, work, hunt, fish,go to church again, drag races, and most important to spend every moment with my 9 year old son doing everything fun that we can do together as that is what I have missed so much throughout this year.Life is so precious and I have always liked living it to the fullest. So I thank the good Lord for all he is going to do in the years ahead. Thanks again for your prayers. Mike

HI vaslugger, WE are glad to hear that the surgery went well. We are hoping that the pain will recede in 2-4 weeks. We expect you will be able to walk and do things with your son and family in about 4-6 weeks. We are still praying for a swift recovery.
