A friend of mine has a Marlin that I'd like to find out more about if anyone knows about this particular Marlin. It says Marlin Firearms on the barrel obviously. The model is a 3084S. It was made in 1984 from the serial number. Then it has a medallion that says "Mountain Man Commemorative" on it and a picture of a man with a mountain as the backdrop. It is made of brass looks like so these words and images are the same brass color because it is made like a medallion or coin. This medallion is located on the buttstock. I would really appreciate any information that anyone has concerning who or what this gun was made for. Thanks ahead of time.

I read that the Mountain Man Commemorative was made for Otasco, in 1984. The Wagon Train Commemorative in 1983. And the Round Up in 1985, and 86. And many others were made for Otasco.

Folks, thanks again for the help. I kind of thought that's what it might be but wasn't sure. As always, Marlin Owners members come thru again.
