I pruchaced a Mossberg Patriot combo rifle. Nice rifle for the money. When looking at you tube, a lot of shows complain about the accuracy on this rifle. I bore sighthed the rifle , torqued all the rifle fittings, torqued the scope and mounting. I sighted it in today at 50 yds, No accesse to a hundred yrd range. First shot high and left 4 " . second and third punched the first hole. I adjusted scope and hit the bullseye, I put her about an inch up at the top of the bullseye. This rifle is a tack driver. All the groups were touching. I figure these youtube guys don't check anything and just go shoot. Either I'm lucky or these guys don't know what there doing. I had 2 or 3 bad hits, but that was me. I have to use a straight wall cartridge this year where I hunt. I'm happy.:)

I would expect your assessment of the other shooters to be accurate, Or it could be that they got a funky rifle. There's a you tuber named Backfire who had a patriot that he had accuracy problems with. He sent it back to the factory multiple times. I don't know if he ever did get that thing shooting correctly. I have a predecessor to the patriot, It is a trophy hunter. I believe that is a spin-off Of 1 of the other rifles that was sold by Dick's sporting goods. I don't recall what the other rifle was called. Nonetheless they are the predecessor to the patriot rifle. Anyway my rifle is in 243 caliber And it shoots lights out , with my hand loads 5 shot groups all touching I have multiple targets to prove it. I deer hunted in Pennsylvania with that rifle last year and shot a nice buck. Enjoy the rifle!

Glad you got a good one. I’ve had two of the Patriot models. They seemed ok , but one had to be sent back to Mossberg right away due to a bad crown and sticky safety. They made me pay shipping, on a new rifle I just bought… was not happy to pay $60 to send back a budget rifle. They had to rebarrel the rifle… after I got it back I sold them both. Had a bad taste from the whole ordeal. That said I have an mvp patrol in 300blk that I really like, but Mossberg will not be getting any more of my money.

Several years ago I bought a Patriot combo in .308 Win. for my son. I checked all the screws as the original poster did and basically got the same results as he did - excepting I was shooting at 100 yds.
The rifle shot right at M.O.A. with my favorite 150 gr. handloads and both Winchester & Remington factory ammunition. My son lives in Florida and has taken a number of feral hogs and deer with that rifle.
I've seen a couple of the "complaining" videos - inexperienced shooters IMO.

Last year I bought one of the synthetic stocked Patriots specifically to hunt the shotgun season in Illinois. I had to leave the magazine out and manually place a single round into the chamber because Mossberg had not yet developed their one-round sled for use in States like Illinois. Anyway, on the last day of the first shotgun season I drilled a 3.5-year-old 8-pointer at 83 yards. That rifle will be returning with me to Illinois in November!

Totally agree with OP. Check all screws as soon as you get them, and you should be fine. If you do get a lemon, Mossberg will make it right.

Yes, Ruger Has a better service dept than Mossi. Heck, even Remington had a good service dept. I had a Remi 700 that was sent back to Remi to have the trigger serviced, no charge for shipping or the warranty work. I bought this rifle as a price point. But when I spent more money, it was a Winchester, Savage or a Remi. But like I said, I'm happy with the results.

In May a friend of mine won a Mossberg Patriot at a sportsman's raffle. He asked me if I would be interested in it as he heard they were a piece of crap. I asked him what he wanted for it and he told me a couple hundred and a case of beer. Bought it from him on the spot. It is a 308win in the camo stock. I mounted a Nikon 3x9x40 scope on it I had laying around. Took it out to sight it in and after adjusting scope to my preferred point of impact at 100 yds, I promptly shot a 5 shot group that I could cover with a nickel. Will be hunting with it this year.
