Just wanted to thank everyone for this informative sight...great information.

I am now officially once again a Marlin owner...I had an 1895s...or was it an 1895ss in the late '80s. Sold it few years later to finish up with school. Have been Marlin-less for a while now.

Well....last week I picked up my new (to me) Model 1895...S/N 25xxxxxx, so it looks like it was born in 1975. It's in really good shape for a 45 year old rifle...cleaned up very nice!









Can't wait to get out and try a few loads in it. Back in the '80s I learned the hard (recoil) way that you don't have to load them up like a Roman Candle...just let the bullet do the work. Should be a nice shooting carbine. Now...all I have to do is find that Maine "hunting shack" in a year or two when I decide to retire. I think that the 1895 would like northern Maine....
