Went in my local pawn/gun shop today and spotted this ammo. Being new to the caliber I didn’t know if Marlin itself makes this or some other company having rights to the name.

I don't hunt. I just shoot for fun. Every time I go out with my vintage Marlin .444 lever action rifle, I shoot 30 or 40 rounds for fun. I love the strong magnum recoil from my rifles!

At these prices above, though, I couldn't imagine spending $90-120 every time I might go out and blast away with my Marlin .444. I'm glad I reload and built up my powder, primer and bullet stash years ago. I can still enjoy my hobby without selling off a kid or my right arm!

I also reload my own, but that is really a collectors box of ammo even though you can use it for what ever you want. It is expensive if you just want to shoot it up, but I am leaning toward the fact that someday, someone will pay more than it's price now to add it to their collection. Looking at it now I kind of wish I had picked up a couple of boxes when it was available. I could have kept it, or passed it on to my sons when I am gone. Personally I would not shoot it or hunt with it unless I had to. Just my 2 cents worth.

To the OP I believe its a Hornady 265 grain flat point bullet, not sure it was loaded by Remington or is the same as the Hornady Superperformance ammo (which would be fantastic). I have a box that I bought a couple years ago for under $50. The Remington loaded 265 back in the day wasn't loaded the same as the Hornady which was much faster.

Been reloading all winter. Great hobby and I'll have lots to shoot. I reloaded 4,000 .223s over the winter, lots of case prep with military brass, and I'm working on .30-06 now to shoot in my Johnson 1941 I just recently picked up. Can't wait to shoot this baby! We've been told many times to stock up when the prices are low and everything is available. How many of us did just that?!

I was doing fine until a couple months ago when I dove off into lever world. Now I’ve got 7 rifles in 5 calibers and no components. What’s even worse is I have some 30-30 bullets I played with in a subsonic 308 load, but that’s the lever caliber I don’t have. So, I did and didn’t listen lol

Marlin, to my knowledge, does not manufacture ammo. Just like Sears and Roebuck didn't manufacture ammo, even though I had some 22 rimfire Sears branded, and Revelation shotgun shells, a Western Auto brand, at one time many years ago. The bullets look like Hornady bullets cause they aren't Remington. Remington bullet tips are scalloped. I know cause I have some 240 grain Remington 444 factory cartridges. You should get the ammo.
