Fellas, I figured it would be pretty nice to see a few of the store brand 336 Marlin rifle's that a good many on here have... so show em if you would please.

Let's see... there's Revelation, Foremost, JC Higgins, Sears, Westernfield, Glenfield and I'm sure a few more.

I'll start with my Westernfield 740 A in 30-30 Win. made in 1967

Paid $225.00 for it plus a set of dies, brass, and bullets.

Here is a fairly heavily modified Revelation Model 200, (Western Auto Supply Co. same rifle as Marlin 336), .30-30, SN: V28###, Walnut stock, Barrel and magazine tube shortened to 16.25” by Brockman Custom Gunsmithing, custom enlarged lever by forum sponsor Muleman. It also now sports a Williams receiver mounted model 5D peep rear sight which, was not yet installed when I took this picture. Along with it for size reference is a Ruger Super Blackhawk.

Here's my '63 Revelation 200. It's got one of the smoothest actions of any of my 336's. It was missing the buttstock when I got it so I put the Ram-line stocks on, I don't really like them and I have since picked up a nice buttstock so the wood is going back on. I paid $100 for it at a garage sale.

I just picked this Glenfield M30A on Friday morning after buying it from a dealer in Ct. There's not even a hint of a scratch in the loding gate. A nice, mint older (1980) 30/30 which also came with a Weaver 4X Marksman era scope (steel tube).

Somthing neat I am noticing, other than the Revelations (which seem to be conventional barrel band), all the store brands seem to have a unique combination of cap style forend with a full length mag tube. I dont recall Marlin having a Name Brand released that way. I am sure there are others here that may know if this was a special store brand combination.

I have been asking this same question for years. The only responce I've gotten is;" it's like some of the Glenfields".

Now I don't want to start an argument but, to me a Glenfield is not a store brand.:flute:
The store brands were made for specific stores. You couldn't buy a new Otasco at Sears, or a new Foremost at Western auto. And no gun stores could sell a new "Store brand". But any gun store could sell a Marlin or Glenfield.

So, to my way of thinking, Glenfield is a less expensive Marlin with birch in lieu of walnut.:ahhhhh:

I've noticed the same thing, Galaxieman.

The Marlin 30AS was built like the store brand rifles, but I think it was a birch stock.... not sure though.
The Sears brand and Westernfield are the only two I know of that have a walnut stock. - made with, nose cap forend, dovetaild FS, no pistol grip butt cap.
The Westernfield had factory sling swivels, butt pad.

I don't believe any of them have a bullseye.

No 336ER, you didn't mess up. I like looking at the Glenfield's as I'm sure others do also.

Plumber, I don't think of them as being store brand rifles either, but in a way they are. Like GSCSA's Glenfield that was sold thru the Oklahoma Tire & Supply Co.

I believe the Glenfields have their place at the store brand table. Doc Fillem's description of their roll is perfect.

Able, we sure would like to see a picture of that Kmart brand Marlin/Glenfield. The 30TK is one of the nicest looking rifles, ever made at the Marlin plant.

I agree that Glenfield is not a store brand. It was a smart marketing move on Marlin's part to protect the small shops and stores that carried the Marlin brand, from the big chain stores. As Plumber said, a "store brand" could only be purchased at a particular store, Glenfields were sold at many different stores.

Well a few days ago someone posted about a Revelation 200.
And we were talkin bout the store brands. Did a little research.
Found this ole thread, and thought I revive it.
And I think there are more store brands around than there has been posted. So lets see 'em folks.
Here's a pic. of my Sears model 45 in .35 Rem.
