Yep, punch out the pin at the end cap, spring will pop out and the follower will follow, just be sure of the direction you punch it out.

I would probably try flushing out the tube with some CLP before attempting to take it apart.

 

I flush mine out with bore cleaner, then dry it with the bore rod and patches until the patches come out clean....

 

Feeding issues could be another problem as well. Especially, intermittent ones.

I push the spring back with a cleaning rod and spray away and work the plunger and spring back a forth than spray more
I do this out side or over a trash can in the shop

I flush mine out every few years and their good to go, remember, keep it simple as long as you can.

 

Did you notice whether it mis-feeds in the beginning or towards the end on the last few rounds. If your feeding issues are towards the later half of the magazine it could be a fatigued spring.
