I came upon the forum a couple of weeks ago and have been reading up on the Marlins. My first Marlin was a .22 single shot Crown Prince with a pull ring to cock it. I received it as a birthday present back in the late '50's
or early '60's from my parents. I still use it to plink squirrels and added a 3 X 9 scope to it a few years ago. My second Marlin was a model 336 .35 Remington which I bought back in the mid '70's. This gun was the reason I
found the forum. I had become very comfortable using my .270 Winchester to fill the freezer with venison and decided to put it up and get the Marlin .35 Rem out to hunt deer with again. I came to the forum to read up on
the gun and read about placing a scope on it. It had been a two or three decades since I've had the gun in the woods and just shot a few rounds with it every few years.
I decided to join the forum as my interest in guns has peaked up again and I've always liked Marlin weapons. I am also thinking about getting into reloading, but still just thinking about it.

Glad I had a couple of boxes of ammo, seems like ,35 Rem is very, very hard to come by, especially around 200gr.

Welcome Tar Heel and I mean that in the nicest way. Nostalgia and Marlin rifles - a good combo. You are blessed to have such a beautiful place to hunt in. I graduated from ECU in '84 and relished the weekly drive I would make on Friday to see my wife in Ohio. I enjoyed that drive through the mountains but was never able to hunt there.

Welcome from another North Carolinian. What area are you from in the mountains? We have a little place near Robbinsville. I have had good experience's with all the Leverevolution ammo I have tried. I've used it in my .30-30, .35 and .444..

Welcome aboard! Gotta' love those .35 rems...
Just for info, that Hornady LE groups better out of my .35 rem than anything else I've run through her; good luck to you.

Welcome Sir , like a few other have said , Many of these marlin lever rifles love to eat the Hornady LeverEvolution ammo extremely well , and will Definitely give most of these marlin rifles an extreme advantage on the long end of the range , because of it's bullet design , you get a flatter trajectory to the target . I have a 74 year Old Glenfield 30/30 / 336 action , that has one of the Old" 4 groove rifled barrel's and That" 160 gr. FTX / LE bullet #30395 , will hold a 2 in group , OR better at 100 yds. that old rifle with that bullet , which I load myself . You should Definitely give that Factory Lever Evolution ammo a try in your 35 caliber . It's Not real cheep to buy or easy to find , but worth your effort when you see it on the shelves here and there . I have found those Hornady FTX 225 , 160 , 200 and 325 gr. bullets , are pretty easy to find on the store shelves , than the Factory loaded ammo , if your decide you want to roll your own , down the road sometime.... Some" Powders" are Still Hard to come by though .
