Does anyone remember the H&R trap guns? Came out right before the company closed? Vent rib barrel with removable chokes?

I have a new one and will never use it. Anyone have an idea what these go for?

As always condition is everything. Pictures help determine that. I have one. I won't tell you what I paid for it but I will say that what mine is and I think the description of yours is a Topper Deluxe Classic. Should say so on the barrel. Mine and others that I have watched sell have been $300 to just under $600.

Probably around $300.00, if it is as new condition with not a speck of dust on it. The Toppers, even dressed up, never commanded much in the secondary market. To be honest, if buying guns was not such a pita in NJ, I'd make you an good offer just because I shoot a lot of trap and have bought all kinds of interesting guns before NJ turned completely communist.

My suggestion is to sell it locally to a burgeoning trap shooter as their first dedicated trap gun. Every trap shooter wants a Browning BT-99 but can't afford them. That Topper Trap is BT-99ish and will make some kid smile. Even with an exposed hammer. Never seen one on a trap gun before.

From Blue Book of Gun Values.

To help you further understand the value of a Topper Trap,
we provide a breakdown based on the firearm's condition:

100% (New, unfired): $295
98% (Like new, minor wear): $250
95% (Minimal wear, well-maintained): $210
Hey, I don't mean to be a drag, but t is what it is. H&R single shots do not command high prices. You can get that same shotgun without the rib and less fancy wood for about $125.00. At the end of the day, it is just a dressed up Topper. Personally, I think it looks neat. I teach a lot of first time trap shooters. That would be an excellent training gun.

and came with imp cyl, mod, and full.
If t was a true trap gun it would have come with just full and maybe extra full.

As far as H&R guns go, it's a handsome shotgun. But it is all wrong for trap. The forestock is too short and the comb and pitch of the buttstock is more of a sporting stock for upland game than trap.

This is the gold standard for trap

If H&R made a different stock, instead of just upgrading the wood of the exact same stock, and with a higher comb and the forestock a few inches longer, it could actually be a decent trap gun. Even with the exposed hammer.

I think it's a cool looking gun, and they go for cheap so it's just the kind of weird gun I'd buy, just because. But nobody is entering ATA tournaments with one of those dressed up Toppers.
