What are your favorite sling swivel loops? I have the studs on my Marlins, but no swivels yet and there are quite a few out there. I have a custom leather sling.

Thanks!

I bougfht some UM swivels and was immediately disappointed to see that the knurled locking knob was actually a plastic outer collar over the metal shank. This is on a set of the stainless UM swivels I bought from Midway....so can't say if the blued/black swivels are the same. Stands to reason they would be.

So I bought 2 sets of GrovTec swivels and I happen to think they are better than the UMs I received. All steel construction and tight tolerances...very apparent quality in them. Both sets are headed to be Parkerized.

I've never seen ANY!? plastic on any of the MANY sets of Uncle Mike's swivels I have?, but I will say that the US mfg ones (in the GREEN propaganda baggie) do seem to be better than the current off shore (china/red propaganda bubble pack) ones!, the GroveTec are supposed to be US mfg knock offs of the UM's?, I have a set of the GT band/studs to put on one of my rifles but haven't done so yet, they talk them up at the LGS?

I'm in the serious minority here, but I like non-detachable swivels personally. They look a lot cleaner and neater (less bulk), less to go wrong and I like having a sling for each rifle, so don't need to detach. I do think uncle mikes are well made though, I bought a 1" non detachable uncle mike's set (advertised as 1 1/4") and they're very nice. But I need 1 1/4" so got another set and quality is no where near as good. Apparently uncle mike doesn't do 1 1/4" non detachable anymore which is a big shame, I don't understand why non detachables aren't more popular.

I never dreamed anyone used plastic in good rifle swivels until the Uncle Mike's showed up.

I have no preference in names for swivels, but I darn sure like them to be all-steel. The GrovTec swivel has no plastic and looks to be completely military tough.

Thanks given for the question.

I have a similar issue....although I know what loops I want. I need to find a way to mount them on a 25MN without hogging out the original holes in the stock. I like to make my own improvements and personalize my stuff but I like to make the mods reversible. In other cases I buy good used parts to modify but that's in the Ruger world where regular, everyday small parts and even stocks are not expensive. Maybe I should just buy another stock....

Sorry for the highjack.....I waited for the OP to make a decision.

No sweat. I saw an interesting thread at one point where a guy mounted his rear swivel on the side of his leather butt-cuff so he could carry his rifle "Africa Style" with the barrel down. Looked pretty cool.

Looking at the pictures LeatherBark posted of the stainless ones it's obvious that the knobs are of a different material!?, I went and looked at the blue ones I have, I stand corrected!:flute: they also have plastic knobs!, they aren't anywhere neer as obvious on the blue ones!:shot:
