Every time I fire a bullet the shell sticks in the end of the barrel. the extractor will not pull the shell out. I can fill the magazine and operate the lever until the magazine is empty and the extractor functions properly every time. would shell expansion from firing be enough to dislodge the extractor tip? Also, the firing pin sticks out about 1/32 from the face of the bolt. Is that normal? I tried 3 different brands of shells and all fail.

I have owned many Marlin 1891. The reason the casings are sticking is the chamber is gone. Back in the day, .22 shells were loaded with black powder and the chamber and bore get corroded from not being properly cleaned. I have run into this issue many times with old Marlins from that era. I have a 1891 side load .22 as well as 3 other early Marlin .22 that I had relined so I could enjoy shooting them.

I found that the breach bolt rocks side to side a bit. If I push the bolt to the left when cocking the lever, the extractor pulls the shell out every time. The spring on the side plate looks twisted and weak so I'm replacing it too, although I don't know what part number it is to order. A couple of thou shim behind the back side bolt could help too keep it from rocking could help too.
The chamber face seems fine.
The extractor is worn and rounded a bit but when the bolt is out it will hold a shell but not the weight of a cartridge.
All things I will be addressing this week.
Thank you for the suggestions.

I figured out that this piece, part 14G, (carriage stop) was stuck in the side plate. after removing and cleaning under it and the slot, it functions properly. I also found some damage to the top of the side plate which I have to address. The carriage stop seems to .
have minimized the rocking problem of the bolt.
