My buddy was telling me about this one.
Apparently someone he knows in Pennsylvania has one.
10 shots with a center barrel like a shotgun.
Apparently its nickname was grapeshot revolver.

Designed by Lemat in New Orleans but made in France and other places.
Had to get around the port embargo to get to the Confederates.

Imported from France thru the northern blockade, primarily a revolver found in the hands of well healed southern cavalry officers. Had a bud from the around where his relatives fought, and on the wall was a cavalry saber and pair of Lemats with saddle holsters. Battle of Stones River/ 2nd Murfreesboro TN. As kids we knew to respect them, only ever just looked, probably still on that wall. Like to meet the man who carried those.

A very good buddy of mine in Maine has one. IIRC he bought it at a lawn sale. He has a modest collection of antique firearms, most of them he picked up at lawn or local estate sales.

Pietta makes some very nice replicas. My buddy Nick had a couple.

Taking a "harder" look at the images I can't help but wonder what effect that shotgun barrel would have had on the one above being so much shorter.

The LaMat is one of my favorite revolvers. It also made a appearance in Westworld?

I have been entertaining the idea of making my own in 357 or 44 center-fire. Potential costs kept going up the more I kept modifying and very quickly went beyond what I could afford.
So, I may just have to satisfy myself with the Taylor&Co repro as I know they do very nice work.
