Good news for me, I just tested the 30-30 Lee’s factory crimp die and the Redding taper crimp on a 32 Winchester cartridge. I adjusted the die a little and crimp it ok. I will load some up and do further testing at the range and get back to you. I think I can save some money. Has anyone use those on your 32s?

Bert,
Both the Lee 30-30 and 308 Win crimp dies work for me on my .32 Win special reloads. I ordered a set of RCBS cowboy dies for the .32 Special. The cowboy dies were designed with the cast bullet shooter in mind. Not only are
those cowboy dies the prettiest dies I ever purchased, they perform excellently right down to the taper crimp. Gosh
they make a nice reloaded round. I shoot a ton of cast bullets and I bought them just for the heck of it. Best $48.00 I ever spent on anything for reloading. When I use the Lee factory crimp dies in 30-30 or .308 Win on my
.32 Specials, I just don't crank down as hard as normal. You'll get the feel of it after a few rounds. I just stop short of the "crush" factor.

358 Win,

I agree with you on the Cowboy dies. I have a set for my 30-30. I love the roll crimp die and it has the seater plug made for flat nose. I also have a set of Lyman and it does roll crimp also. It's seater plug is made for round nose and spitzer bullets as well.

I ordered a set of Lyman dies with the M die as well for my 32 Winchester and when I start to reloading for cast, I plan on ordering the Cowboy seater die only. Works great.

Bert,
You are correct, it is a roll crimp, not taper crimp. My gyro must have been spinning off center when I posted. That
gyro thing happens a lot to me. The lock rings on my .32 cowboy dies were so nice, I took them off and am using regular lock rings. Just keep those pretty lock rings in the die box so I don't mess em up. They almost appear to be
color case hardened. The dies themselves have a different finish on them too. I'm color blind so can't quite explain
it but they are handsome suckers.

I've expierienced good crimps with most any die manufacturer or type, thing that is condusive to good crimping in any caliber is to have all the cases trimmed the same so you can get a very consistant crimp. Not overdoing the deburring on the case mouth inside and outside helps.

Today got my package of reloading toys for the 32 win. I check out the Lyman seater die and looks like I don't have to buy the Cowboy die. Has the same design as the RCBS seater plug. Now I will get to reloading and shoot that 32 Win that I haven't shot yet since I bought it. :)
