Has any one tried to cowitness a red dot and ghost ring sights? I'm thinking with this being my bear gun while we run with dogs I want something anyone could shoot if the bear is treed and the open sights if I have to take it on the ground in a hurry. Thanks for any help

I am a complete rookie here, but I thought the advantage of co-witnessing is incase you lose power to your red dot. But then you need flip up rear sight or am I wrong here, unless of course you use the bottom one third of the red dot and zero separately.

Anyway I am sure a real expert will come along and explain it....I would like to have both on mine too.

Thanks for bringing this subject up and I will be watching closely...hopefully someone will have a video explanation.

I would use the red dot in both of the examples you gave.
Arguably faster target acquisition than open sights, particularly if you opt for one which is parallax-free like the aimpoints.
A 4 MOA dot will be easier to pick up quickly and will be fine for the ranges described.

I did something similar on my AR, co-witnessed my BUIS and red dot. It works well for me.

Thanks guys for the input i really appreciate it cowitness may be the wrong word I want to be able to see iron sight through red dot. I was really thinking the fast fire my self I've talked to several sight MFG and none make this so I was hoping someone might have a solution take off is not ideal as sometimes I don't have seconds and I hate to turn it on and leave it on all day just in case I need it quick.
