Re: "Cheap" 39 Octagon for sale

I have two of them. One is 98+%(been fired but very little) the other one has not been fired. I've had them for a lot of years but never thought they would bring this kind of money.

Yes! If I was wiggy I would be done and wait for another to show up next week. Probably will be several come out of the wood work now with a price that high.

jdad-

That is my gun. I started the gun at a reasonable price. I rolled my eyes when I saw that the bidding had jumped like it has with the leading bidder having no history. I've been on the other side and my thoughts were the same as yours . . . it looks very suspicious. Oh, well, I guess everyone needs to make their first purchase. What a way to jump into the pool! Believe me when I say, if I was using a straw bidder, there is no way I would keep bidding. In fact, the losing bidder bid again today and the guy with no rating is still in the lead!

I will note that I've sold one other 39A Octagon in the past 1 year and it sold for $1500, and was no where near as nice as this one.

Thanks stubbfarmer. I think we've done some Marlin "business" in the past. But I can't remember what it was. Maybe you bought a Bill West book from me. The reason I remember is because I think your hometown is very near where I grew up.

Well if there is a cure for marlinitis it when the price reaches that high. Now if I had one I would be happy as a pig in s.... But I am looking for its brother and not quite at that price. Congrats on selling your rifle at that price who know it may go higher, the night is young.

The 39 Octogon just sold for 3225.01 with 2498 people visiting the ad. Just goes to show that there are still people out there with money that like Marlin 39's. Just makes my poor collection worth more.

Stubbfarmer-

I've got a couple friends that are going, but I won't be able to go. I here it is a good show. Unfortunately, most of the money is already spent on a few items I found at the Sioux Falls show! Pre-spending, as my wife calls it!

Re: "Cheap" 39 Octagon for sale

That sales price is unbelievable!!! (unglaublich und verruckt, as we say around here) I recently purchased a 1973 336 Octagon for less than $500, and the original price on the 39M Octagon was only $125! Talk about REALIZED investment potential - good for you BacktoBethel!!! Food for thought: an original 1922-26 Model 39 (no prefix) with 100% case coloring and 3X wood usually cannot bring that much...

Re: "Cheap" 39 Octagon for sale

WOW!

I have one of these rifles...a 39A Octagon...it is like..new. i've only put around a box of ammo through it and there are ZERO dings or anything...an EASY 99%.

I'm thinking I'd sell it for that kind of $$ and get myself an older 39 as a shooter as I don't shoot this one much after learning of its rarity....backtobethel...if you want to contact the next high bidder on your auction to put us in touch with one another...feel free to do so ;D

Hopefully the CEO at Remlin bought it so they can pull their heads out of their donkeys and put out a quality product.

Re: "Cheap" 39 Octagon for sale

Anyone know where I can fine a few octagon barrels??
I could re barrel a 39 A and sell for a little profit??
Oh my God
$3225.01 for a 39?!?!!?!?
Maybe remlin should take a look at what is going on and let Marlin go and make good rifles
