Hello Guys!
Long time owner, 1st time on the forum...
Has anyone ever bent a mag tube out of commission? How hard do you have to hit it to dent it that much? I've spent alot of time on other forums and when they mention lever guns, they always mention denting the tube beyond being functional. I've had my 336 in .35 Rem since '86 and absolutely love it. But since there are so many of you here, I figured I'd ask.

Welcome to Marlin owners.

I don't know what it would take to bend a mag tube that much. We like our Marlins and pamper them like children. We never abuse our guns, they are not clubs but precision instruments to be used with care.

I am happy to say that I don't know the answer to your question. ;D

Please understand, my 336 is one of my prized poccessions. And, I might add, after 25 years only has two scratches on it. That was from being in a Jeep that had flipped over and burnt.
As I stated, I had read numerous times about the down side of lever guns is the "bent tube" problem. Obviously it has never happened to me, but I figured with all of you out there... I'd ask how often that it occures.

Welcome to MO! I guess there have been bent mag tube somewhere in the past but I've never heard of anyone on this forum with that problem. Not saying it can't happen just is not that common. The only reason the ''tacticool'' folks bring that up is to get you to buy an AR-15 platform weapon. They have they're own set of problems. Take care and enjoy yourself here on MO, John.

Even if the mag tube gets bent (which I've never seen or heard of ANYWHERE but gunzines or gunshop commando-type forums) the rifle would still function as a single-shot.

I've also had a lot of tube-fed guns, the majority of them 22 rifles, which usually have soft brass internal tubes. I have yet to dent one of those either, and I'm not known for pampering my guns! ::)
