I have a 1967 336rc that probably has less than a dozen rounds through it, if even that. Was wondering if there was any ammunition I should stay away from, don't want to ruin it. I'm assuming any factory ammo is safe.

I think your biggest issue is going to be finding factory ammo on a shelf in a gun shop or sportsmen’s store. The region you live in will also play a role in availability, my area of NY, 35rem is scarce.
I don’t buy factory ammo all that often, but my best luck with accuracy has been with regular Remington stuff, Corelocks. I’ve found Winchester stuff to be morbid in the accuracy department. No experience with the Hornady stuff, which may be your best option for availability. All safe for that 336.
If you have the means, I’d look into hand loading. The 35 Rem is not a finicky cartridge to develop loads for. Plenty of powders and bullet combos work well in it. Speer makes a 180 FP, which is very accurate in my 67 336, as well as the Hornady 200 RN and Sierra 200 RN. On the custom bullet market, I got some Fury 220 FP’s and they are accurate. Hawk has several bullets along with Northern Precision.
Powders, Varget, IMR4046, H332, H335, Leverevolution, both 4895’s, AA2015 all did well in mine, plus load manuals have a gang of others that I have not used.
Final note, I’ve also gotten excellent accuracy with the Hornady FTX 200gr and Leverevolution or Varget powders.

I think that is supposed to be IMR 4064

Yes, all factory ammo is safe. Just don't use the pointed spire point ammo (unless Hornady Leverrevolution with the soft red tips). Can't go wrong with any 200gr round nose ammo. Great rifle.

With your year Marlin 336 rifle you have, if you use Hornady Leverevolution ammunition the magazine follower may have to be changed unless it has been changed already. Look at tube magazine thru the loading gate if you see a red follower it has been changed, if it’s metal Color it’s probably the original follower. Quick fix put one flat nose or round nose round in first followed by the Leverevolution rounds. The red follower came in plastic and metal the last time I replaced them.
I have the best accuracy with factory and my reload Leverevolution ammunition.

One more thing, Ithe last time I looked Pro-bass/Cables had Hornady 35 Remington brass about $54. Items Shipped free over $50. You may want to pick up a bag or two for keepsake.

I would think any Factory ammo you find that is it suitable for the tubular 336 magazine is going to work just fine in your rifle. I think all of this ammunition will group nicely enough to take down a deer up to 150 yards for you. Again awesome rifle and very cool you're going to start using it.

Isn't the 150 grain a pointed bullet? I have always avoided pointed bullets for fear of chain ignition in the mag tube. But I have seen guys say it isn't a problem.
If I was shooting factory ammo, I would look into the LE simply for the extra bit of speed.
I reload so mine is shooting 180 Speer JFP and LE powder.

I Bought a few hundred of Rem. 150gr. PSP core-lokt way back when for reloading. But couldn't get good group with them. I sold the remaining bullets to a member who wanted to try them out.
I think Remington offers the 150gr. PSP ammo for bolt action 35R. rifles.

Well it's been awhile. I did shoot the 336 35rem. Got 2 boxes of the lever evolution. At 50yrds it was 6inches high. Could be me though. I like the rifle, it's a lever after all. I didn't realize until today that the bullseye fell out (d$*n). So now I need to replace it. Rifle is all original and unfired till I shot it and the dot falls out. LOL
