Just curious, for those lucky enough to own / possess / have an 1894 in .41 mag - - mine is a CCL.
Do you reload or have enough $$$$ to only shoot factory ammo? What do you feed her?

For the reloader's - jacketed bullets or cast?

If you load jacketed, what's your favorite bullet and weight? My favorite jacketed load is the Hornady 210 gr. XTP over 22.4 grs of WW 296, w CCI 350 primer. This load runs at +/-1,775 fps from the 20" barrel on my rifle - Your mileage may vary with this load, but it works well in my rifle.

If cast, do you pour your own or buy from a commercial caster? If you pour your own - what's your favorite mold and bullet weight? Saeco #62410 (RNFP), 17.0 grs. of AA#9, w Rem 2-1/2 LP. This load runs at +/-1,580 fps from my rifle - Your mileage may vary.

So, what's the ammo of choice? Cast or Jacketed?

I have an 1894FG and a S&W57 but I have never reloaded for either one. I reload for most others but just haven't shot these enough yet to have a need for it. Yet. I did pick up dies and brass so it will probably be a winter project. So far it's just been various factory ammo.

I hope we get some good information soon as I'm going to start loading for mine in the next few days once all the goodies arrive. I have Lil-gun, AR 2205/H4227 , xtp 210gr and sierra 210 hp, Win LP primers for standard or magnun and 100 Win new cases, waiting on Hornady shell holder and trim pilot. The only dies I could find are .41 AE with a 41 mag shell holder I'm sure it will work if not speak up now please.

I've been reloading for the .41 Mag since 84' with my first Smith 57. Picked up my Marlin 1894S in 89'. Only jacketed bullet been Hornady's 210 JHP/XTPs. First cast bullets were Magnus 215gr SWCs but now I cast a Lee 195 gr SWC, Saeco 210gr SWC and a Ranch Dog TL411-255RF. The RD mold weighs 270 gr straight wheel weights and made specifically for the Marlins chamber. Favorite powders are 2400, H110/W296, AA#9 and Unique. Marlin wears a Williams receiver sight to keep my 14" TC Contender and Smith 4" 58 company. No longer have several 57s, 58s, 657s and a Ruger 6.5" Blackhawk.

I have been loading .41's for awhile myself. Favorite bullets run from Hornady's XTP 210 grain for a jacketed bullet, Laser Casts 215 grain swc, LBT's hard csst 265 grain wnfp, and recently Penn Bullets cast 295 grain bullets. Used to love the old Speer half jacketed bullet.
Launch them from my 6" Blackhawk or my FG. Favorite powdners are H110 and 2400, leaning toward 2400 most often. I need to look at my notes for charge weights, it's too early to quote them off the top of my head without coffee!

Combat Diver and JohnD:
Can I use AA9 or 2400 with a 300 grain JHP with appropriately reduced charges, or should I use a slower-burning powder?
Thanks,
—Griff
Edited to add:
Holy moly, according to their website, that 295-grain Penn cast bullet requires a stiff 19.0 grains of H110 or W296 and a magnum primer! No velocity given, wonder how fast it’s trucking along out of a 20” rifle?

Jgriffin1988 amazon will not ship dies to NZ.The only 41 dies I have been able to find were the second hand 41AE they work.I loaded 6 which fed, fired and ejected without a problem.I reloaded them again with 21.5 gr 296 and 210 gr Sierra as the others only did 1530 fps with AR2205 at 20gr. When the weather improves I'll shoot them over the chronograph.

I use .411 coated 215 gr semi wad cutters in my Henry rifle, super blackhawk, and my Tarus Tracker. I use Acurate # 9 for warmer loads and Unique for plinking loads. My model 57 with a 3 1/2 in barrel is not legal to hunt with in Arkansas so it gets #9 and a 210 gr XTP or Unique and a 210 gr plated bullet for plinking.
