I was browsing on GB and happened upon some pretty cool parts. I know it is just cosmetic, but it is still pretty cool I think. I found several lowers that have the fire control marked "SAFE" and "ZOMBIES" and another one marked "DEAD" and "UNDEAD". There are chamber covers and uppers marked "ZOMBIE KILLER" in various ways also. Maybe they have been being made for a while and I just didn't notice them. It would be pretty cool to have as a lower for my 458SOCOM. These AR's really are moving way outside of their original intended use. There are more custom options available than you can shake a stick out. I guess it really is true like they say, "AR's are like Barbies for men".

That's pretty funny. I can think of lots of different things you could put on the selector.........Hot/Cold, Loud/Quiet, Easy Listening/Rock N Roll........lots of possibilities. But since AR's were primarily designed for Zombies ::) it makes sense to do it that way.

OK, I'll admit my ignorance, here... what is the deal with the whole 'zombie' thing? I've seen them on the shooter video games, but... really?

On one of the other forums, they have banned the use of 'zombies' altogether... I don't get it.

I didn't get it, either, until recently when a friend was explaining what it is really all about. Apparently many people don't expect there to be actual zombies, but instead use it as a dehumanizing term for other people in a SHTF fantasy situation. So when someone says they are prepping for zombies, what they are usually saying is that they are preparing for a killing spree in a post apocalyptic situation, which would obviously result in everyone trying to kill each other ::) As a man of faith I see things a little differently, though, which is why I don't get excited about the idea. If hard times, or even war, come to my homeland, I'll do my utmost to endure, but I'm not going to sit around and fantasize about it, or underestimate or degrade anyone that may be coming against me, criminally.

To others it is just a fun fantasy, killing the undead.

AMEN!

For that matter, I do enjoy the "Walking Dead" series on AMC, but still.....

So, how long until some "forward thinking ::)" group in our society, deems it inappropriate to talk about violence against the "undead?"

All through history, armies gave nicknames to the people they killed.
It is far easier to kill folks when you de-humanize them.
I did not tell you all that the zombies that are being talked about are U.N.dead.....

You guys are going to drive me to see my shrink...

U.N.Dead, Walking Dead (as opposed to, I suppose, Walking Tall... ;) ) fun fantasy...

That probably sums it up better than I have ever heard. Since we don't know who they will be, we must use a generic term.

Please excuse me, I have to go dig my fallout shelter... ;D

When was the last time you saw one of these...

Here in Saint Louis we have the Zombie Squad. It is a zombie themed disaster prep organization that actually does some nice things and helps people to prepare for emergencies. We had some bad storms a couple of years ago and it got me thinking about generators and such. They also are big on bug-out boxes and what not. You do get the dehumanizing rant from some of them but mostly it's for folks who want to be prepared, who like to camp, get into mil-surp, and shoot - oh and watch Zombieland. They have become somewhat popular on the internet so this may no be the 1st you've heard of them.

Wow , Some of you are reading a whole lot more into the Zombie thing than I did I guess. ??? I just thought it a novel idea, like a cartoon character or something. I never really thought of it as a way to de-humanize someone to make it easier to kill them or anything like that. It seems in todays world nothing can be taken at face value anymore, everything is analized to find some underlying "real" reason. Do you really think there are those who buy this stuff for that reason?? I am not being sarcastic, I really never thought of it in that way. I was thinking of getting one of the "Zombie" lowers to build, as I have been wanting to build a lower for a while. I thought it would be a fun way to have something different. I would sure hate to take it to the range only to have someone see it and think I am some doomsday killer preparing to dehuminize my enemy, so I can kill them with a clear conscience. Maybe some really do buy stuff like that for that reason?? Can't we just do stuff for fun anymore??

NO.

Seriously, though, there are folks out there that think the Apocalypse is upon us (and not the one with Martin Sheen in it, either...) and they are planning for all eventualities. You and I can point fingers and laugh at it, I don't really take stuff like that seriously, and get an AR lower with 'Zombies' or 'SHTF' on it, which I think is quite funny. Some do it for shock value, some for humor, and some are serious.

I guess it really does take all kinds to make the world go round. Personally, I do not need to de-humanize anyone to do what is necessary to protect myself or my family ( if it comes to that, hopefully it does not ) However, being a Christian in this era of political correctness and tolerance, the threat may not be as far away as we would like to think. Until then I will keep enjoying my guns. My kids think the whole Zombie thing is cool. I bought some of the "Zombie targets",( http://zombietargets.net/ )and we go to the range and put holes in them. You guessed it "just for fun".

Zombies = Sheeple, Sheeple are folks who will not do anything for themselfs in a SHTF situation, they will wait for the Federal Government to come to their aid and rescue.
People who do not want or need the Federal Governments help in a SHTF situation are called Lions.

According to the FBI & Homeland, You are the very terrorists they are looking for.
The dehumanizing will come after the internal war starts.
Your guns make you a prime target

Unfortunately, you are probably correct. However, I am quite sure the founding fathers of our country would have been more than happy to take their turn with my AR and try to hit " Zombie osama" right between the eyes. ;) ;D

Guys, I did qualify what I said...

As far as the belief system surrounding this whole thing that I described, I know more than one person who looks at it this way. So guess that means I'm either right about some people, a liar, or crazy. Think of me as you will.

I never said it was all folks. How many are out there across the country, and to what extent this is some kind of "underlying psychology," for all zombie stuff, I'll leave to better men. All I know is that the only people who are really, really into the whole zombie thing that I know think this way.

Sorry if I rained on anyone's parade. I'm just not at a point in my life right now where I'm really tolerant of made-up fantasies that lead me away from thinking about what I should be doing in this life, fantasies that lead me away from thinking about God and what He wants for me; particularly fantasies that involve stress, fear, and killing people and such.

That is really funny! Officially on my wish list. Now, my Wife'll finally want an AR for her very own. She's participated in several 'zombie walks', and was an 'zombie' extra in a direct-to-dvd film shot in our area last year.
Gotta Love the zombies. Bless you, Mr. Romero.

I thought this might turn into a humourous thread about some different AR toys, boy was I wrong.
