My grandfather gave me this complimentary bottle of Four Roses years ago. It's from an ambulance company in Chicago (He practiced medicine there from 1911 til he retired in 1961.). I thought y'all might be interested in this old advertising set.
I'm not a bourbon drinker, so it's never been sampled. My taste runs to either Famous Grouse or Balvenie Double Wood scotch.

Very nice, Never tried it before but, have heard good things about it.
Not much of a scotch drinker, but I have sampled a couple that I enjoyed.
But most of them, I truly never want to taste again.;)

My son I law looked the label up on the Four Roses, and that’s a 1940’s vintage bottle.
being in a gift set like that I would guess there is some value. I’d keep that one

A year ago tomorrow I moved to a small border town north of Spokane Wa. One of the oldtimer locals was telling me about a local guy who stumbled (literally) across a case of whiskey mostly buried out in the woods here. It was found a couple of years ago, but the whiskey is almost 100 years old! There is a rich history of bootlegging here from the days of prohibition and the remains of the wooden case and its 12 bottles were likely hidden for a run across the border. I hunt whitetail in the area where it was found (lots of old artifacts in the woods there) so will be keeping an eye out for more! It would be a heck of a find!

A wonderful rare duck here; Four Roses Single Barrel - Barrel Strength.
Was at a bourbon and gin tasting event in a stadium in Philadelphia. Tried a lot of whiskeys and Bourbons and this is the only one that I brought home. The various tables had glamorously package bottles and glamorous ladies pouring and then I came to the four roses table. There was nothing fancy going on here lady pouring was more of a den mother and a hot babe. A guy sitting on a tall stool next to the table turned out to be the distiller or brewmaster or whatever they are called. He was wearing a cardigan that had been around a while. They had some sort of common Four Roses product and they also had some Four Roses Single Barrel. I asked about the availability of any Ultra smooth stuff and she looked over at him and then reached for a bottle they had tucked away. Wow! A smoothie and at full barrel strength! I asked Al what makes this happen? He shrugged his shoulders. He says sometimes you just get one. When they get a barrel like that they bottle it up getting about 80 bottles out of it. They let people they know in the business that they've got it. I had him signed the bottle for me.
On the Powers whiskey end of things; I brought a bottle to a annual St Pat's get together. Lot of really good food going on there. I brought a bottle of powers with me and when I was directed where to put it I saw that there were already 16 other bottles there - every single one was Powers.

@meeester I think Powers is an excellent whiskey. I don't know if it still is but it used to be the bestselling whiskey in Ireland. The Powers John Lane is an excellent single pot still version. I have read that they are coming out with a Irish whiskey made with rye. Should be interesting.

We have had a lot of different things discussed on this Marlin forum that doesn't pertain to Marlins. Almost anything you can think of from firearms, hunting, camping, RV's, welcome to new comers and a lot of prayer for our members over the years, but alcohol and firearms just don't mix. I may be the only sick in the mud, but there's been too many incidents, accidents and people dying from that mixture. I noticed several pictures of different people posting one of their firearms with their favorite drink. Not a good choice for partners.

I think you are reading too much into it. These gentlemen are simply chewing the fat over their favourite tipple whilst at the same time showing one of their favourite guns. It has already been stated that the two don't mix.

I've hosted many hunts as a regular "drinker". Each and every member knew the rules. If you want a drink, go ahead. But NO ONE can shoot or hunt after having had a drink. I make it a serious, understood rule and I've never seen an issue in many years.

If your camp doesn't have rules (to restrictive for those woke folks?) then that's on your butt, not mine.

Tip'em fellas after a great day afield on God's earth!! 🥃🥃🥃

The wife and I are not regular drinkers, except during favorite TV shows and wines/beers for certain dinners. The Yellowstone TV show and its spinoffs, Bluebloods, and Game of Thrones always deserve(d) a companion libation (a time when firearms and libations DO mix). Even though we are retired, this does not apply to streaming binges for obvious reasons.
