Years Marshield used?

I know this is probably here somewhere, but I can't find it. Does anyone know what year Marlin started using the Marshield finish? And not as important to me, but does anyone know when they stopped?
Thanks for the information, and take care,
Rick

My 1966 gun didn't have it, my 1973 did. Someone told me it was 1969 or 70. I have some old catalogs, I'll see what they say.
I'm going to hazard a guess that it was introduced in 1970, soley based on observation, though I don't know for a fact.
Too many. ???
As far as I know, they still use the Mar-shield finish. Only trouble is someone change it to look like chocolate spray paint. ::) Mr fixit

You are indeed correct!
It does look like the same thing except with a more brown colored tint, and in thinner coats.
Thanks for all the replies,
Rick
Rick, it's just my guess, but the finish they used in the early 70's might have been the "prototype" as we have come to find over the years the Mar-shield finish is tough. Seems the finish back then did a lot of flaking off for some reason, this was not a bad thing for the person who was going to refinish a stock as the finish could be scraped off. Mr fixit
