I'll be able to use my model? what is the difference between short and long action .

I dont know about this rifle but I know I couldnt mount a stock for a remington 700 long action on my remington 700 sps short action 308

A short action will not fit a long action (XL7) stock because the action screws will be spaced differently and will not line up with the action holes in the stock.

I don't know why the page itself is listing XL7, but I ordered the lefty model in
nutmeg laminate. When clicking on that one (the page before the one you
attached), it lists it as XS7. Could be a puter snaffoo, but I would call them
to make sure before you order it.

Whoops! OK, I just clicked on the "Order" button off the page you listed. The
page in which that takes you, does indeed list it as "XS7", so you would be ok
to order it on line.

when you click on the link to it on XS7. but it's also short on action?

Scout is right as the long and short action stocks are different lengths (holes anyways that is). The supplied 1 pc bases that Marlin sends with the rifles is series specific too, a XS base will not fit a XL gun. I know that's not what you asked but just in case anybody else was curious.
