Starting Sept 1, Grizzly bear quota hunt of 22 bears will be allowed in and around Yellowstone National Park. . . Wyoming approves first Yellowstone-area grizzly bear hunt in 44 years, backlash erupts | Fox News
The management of grizzlies was returned to the states after they were de-listed from Endangered Species. If the science supports it, then fine. I've always been in favor of following the recommendations of the college-trained biologists the states employ. Note, though, that the hunting will occur in the national forests surrounding Yellowstone National Park (Bridger, Teton, and Shoshoni) and not in the Park itself as game therein is managed by the National Park Service. Hunting in national forests has always been managed by the states in which the forests reside.
