it's a 1895GS 45-70 Gov"t, ,Guide gun in stainless with a serial no of MR57xxxD, thought I had
those figured out but no longer. Would some one give me a hand here please, year of manufacture,
and I can not find a jm any were on the gun so far. Nice looking gun and will get Pic's up soon.
The 1881 is being put away and stored for awhile.

The MR in the serial # indicates that it is not a JM Marlin but a Remington made Marlin. I wish you well, the 1895GS is a wonderful rifle if built well.

Post some pictures after you take possession and welcome to the Guide Gun club!

1895 Gunner:
I just won a 1895 Guide Gun and was wondering if I can add Guide Gun & Outfitter Owners Association to
my resume I think it sounds cool, I believe you no what I mean when I say cool. It's a good looking gun in
stainless and American Walnut. I do believe the gun must have be designed by John Marlin to start with and
now being built by an American co. in the states rather then some one across the pond. I'll put some pic.s up
as soon as the daughter can get it done.
what say you?
John
