Will the barrel from a model 36 fit a model 336 action?What type of rifling was in the model 36.Did the model 36 use good steel?Billy

I doubt whether the breeching of the Model 36 (square bolt) barrel will match the 336's round bolt without extensive gunsmithing.
Barrel steel should be comparable to that used in 336's - nothing really exotic...

Threads are the same, and not much to do to fit it. Bbl steel should be okay unless it has a B or for Black Powder only which I don't think the 36 was so chambered. It has ballard rifling.

Would be interesting if someone could post pictures of the two actions showing the faces of the bolts and the chamber ends of the barrels...
