Went to purchase a leupold scope from D and R and they said that leupold did not list rings or a base for the 39A??? They had no crossreference for another manufacturer either! Now I know you guys put scopes on 39A's. So what base and rings are you using and where do you order them from? JOHN

New 39A's come with a base from the factory. It will either work with Weaver style rings or little 22 clamp on rings. On my 1897T ,I put the base on , Leupold makes a QR that fits a Weaver type base and then mounted a scope . At the moment I have a 6.5-20 Leupold on it . Thats for the BDT after that it will have a Marble's tang sight and possibly a Leupold Compact 3-9 EFR :D

I believe Weaver also makes a base. In the event that doesn't work out you can always call Marlin and get the base from them . Wouldn't think it would cost over $10 :)

Scope Base

According to the handy-dandy owner's manual supplied with my 1897T, this base is made either by Tasco (part #797C) or Weaver (part #49041).

The part numbers are the respective manufacturers; not Marlins.
