Hello everyone................can anyone help me out with a query ?

l have a 'Carbine length' rifle that says on the barrel.......Model 989 M-2 .22s. Made in North Haven, Conn. USA
The Serial Number is.. 6934****.

My queries are:
I cannot seem to find any reference anywhere to the model stated above.
Is there anyway that l can check up on the year of manufacture simply from inputting the Serial Number somewhere.

Your help would be much appreciated

1895 GUNNER..................it is ALMOST like the one in your picture except that it has a meddallion on the stock that reads....................1870 - 1970.
Can you tell me how you were able to 'date it' with just the Serial Number please ?

Thanks for your information

I actually have a 1969 57 M that has the 1970 medallion. They were made late in 69 and not stocked till 70.

Dr, This is all according to Brophy's book. The medallion was installed in stocks of the issued 1970 model year for the 100th anniversary. Your serial number according to Marlin records indicates it was manufactured in 69. that reference material for serial numbers can be found on this site in this thread.
