Where to buy (FIND) a 336SS (.30-30)

Just what the title says. I have had no luck with my local gun stores, Dicks, buds, cheaper than dirt, etc. Nobody has them in stock or knows when they will get them...or even accepts a backorder.

I wanted one in person because my shop upped their FFL transfer fee to a whopping $45 (!), but mail order is definitely an option at this point.

So....who has:

1. 336SS in stock
2. Good reputation/history
3. Reasonable price

?

Edit: Oh yeah, I could also do face to face northeast of Atlanta but it may not be for another month or two, depending. (tax return)

I've got one Ibought in October that I would let go. 2009 manufacture date. How much are you looking to send? I've got 8 shots through it.
It would take a pretty established online history for me to buy something from an individual that was not face to face.

I'm really looking for a dealer to have them...or, and I should have mentioned this in the first post (will try to edit), face to face northeast of Atlanta
Its easier to find a new 1894 in 357 than a SS 30-30. I know a store with five brand new Marlin 357's, one CB 30-30, a SS 44mag, and not one stainless 30-30. This is totally opposite of how it was a year ago. All of the wholesellers show a zero balance on everything except the "W" 30-30 and the Stainless 35 as far as 336's go. They can't give away the Stainless 16" 308SDT.

The XLR 35's have been sitting in inventory at a reduced price of $527.
Warp, There are probabally exceptions, but most Marlin Owners membership seem honorable. I suggest you send him a PM and ask for price and photos. My limited on line buying has not been a bad experience at all. My recommendation and it did not cost you anything. Good day, Jack

I agree with Wasp, I would want a FTF deal. NordFord has only 11 post so we don't know him, first red flag. Secondly, he does not list a location in his personal file, second red flag. This is NOT to say that NORDFORD is dishonest or unreliable in any way, just that Wasp is and should remain on the side of caution. There are too many "less than honest" people on the internet.

Warp,

You might want to try a store called Story's Sporting Goods in Opelika, Alabama, which is located about 100 miles from Atlanta on I-85. I bought a 336SS there a few weeks ago. They are great people to deal with. Their phone number is 334 745-7642.

First, thank you for getting it right. Warp, not Wasp. ;)

Second, I just got off the phone with them and while they do not have any in stock they can and will order one. I don't remember exactly how much he said they would charge but it was around $550.

This is now my top plan. It would be a little bit of a drive, but the gas would cost less than shipping and an FFL fee.
Can a GA resident buy a rifle in AL?
Typically one can buy/sell in a neighbor state (but more than a state away requires FFL-to-FFL transfer).
You would need to know GA and AL laws because this may be very state dependent.
For example, being a neighbor of IL complicates matters due to IL laws (waiting requirements even for
long guns and even muzzleloaders considered firearms).

Peace
Anyone notice Warp only has 4 posts? Should't that be a red flag? Anyway, no problem or hard feelings, just trying to help a guy out, and things are getting tight around here. Maybe now that I have 12 posts it wil help in the future... ;D

From the man with 12 posts?
.

No offense intended, NORDFORD. This forum requires 25 post before posting items for sale. And you personal profile still does not show you location. Why is that? You want to sell something but you want to remain anonymous. Think about it.
OK, How much do you want for the SS? I might buy it from you. I'm not afraid.
saw one at Bass Pro in Myrtle BEach a couple weeks ago for $579

There is no need to look for red flags as I am not trying to buy or sell anything through the forum. I am asking for advice on a ffl to purchase from or a ftf.
Guys, like I said no problem or hard feelings and I also realize I only have 12 posts.
I updated my profile, too. ::)
A Brand new/or nearly in a 336SS in the mid $500's is average price and anything in the $600's is robbery.

So if you are not in a hurry and can keep watching the on-line auctions and websites for a recent year used for under $500, I would do that. I picked up mine 9 mos ago for $425.00 from Gunsamerica.com
If you insist on brand new, IMPACTGUNS.com has it in stock for $559
