Im looking for help identifying the manufacture date of my Glenfield model 30A 30/30.
Have done some research and so far found out that if your serial number does not start with a letter you take the first two numbers and subtract them from 100. In my case the first two numbers are 26 ,which comes out to 74... making it a 1974 production? If so this gun is in remarkable shape! it has deer ingraved in it, with oak leaves painted on it, look for pictures soon in the picture only post. I have also read that the production years are from 1973-1983.
Now i figure there are smarter gun folks here, far more than I, Im wondering if some of you gun wisdom wise folks can tell me if Im heading down the right path here and confirm my findings so far. If you have other sources or knowledge I would love to hear it!
my best to all of you!
