I looked at two NEF's this weekend in .25-06, but not at the same shop...

One was the Handi-Rifle and the other was the Ultra Hunter. Besides the laminated stocks on the Ultra is there any difference(s) between them?

I have a catalog with both, but can't find any differences...The barrel looks heavier on the Ultra in the pics, but I'm not sure.

Thanks for any input!

I have one of each, the Ultra has a bit nicer finish on the frame and the barrel, that's about it, both have 26" barrels with the same contour. My .25-06 Handi is now a .338-06, btw, that's why I have 2!!

Yup, the lams are more durable, but heavier, too. For just a $20 diff, I'd get the Ultra, then if you don't like the stocks, sell or trade em for a set of pallet wood or even the synthetic stocks. You can sell the lams for about $90-$100, specially if they're checkered. The stock sets come up regular on Ebay, and there's always someone wanting to trade in the Graybeardoutdoors.com classifieds.
