I have a marlin 39A this years model "2005" And was wondering what is the best base for this rifle? It came with a factory one but, It didn't really look to good ! I thought about using a set of Williams Iron sights but , wasn't sure what type to get . If I got the Iron sights I belive I'd want to change out the front sight as well but, here again I have no Idea whats the best Thanks guys , HeltonPrecision

For a scope base, I like the Weaver model 90. Weaver part # 48090. Three cross slots and the 3/8" dovetail seems to be more precisely made than the base that came with my newer Marlins.

re: Iron sights; check Brownell's. They offer a very good selection of iron sights and will help you get them matched up.

Midsouth has the best price on a Lyman reciever sight . #66MC $53.70. I have one like it. Also have a front Lynan #17AHB .404 height. They work good. But I like the Marlin front better. Bob
