and how much is it worth? Barrel says 336 octagon it is a 30-30 with a tapered octagon barrel 22" or 21" long and a strait grip no safety. It is well used and in a local pawn shop. serial # 721255XX can you tell me when it was made?

Nothing about Zane Gray on it. It is at a pawn shop, just wondering if it is worth picking up. What is a good price?

I believe it is a limited run 336 Octagon that was made in the the early 70's.The serial # says 1972,but I thought they were out in '73.I know there wasn't a lot made,and I think they had a limited run of 1894's at the same time with the octagon barrels.Marlinman93 knows for sure ,because
I posted on seeing a 336 octagon some time back,maybe he will chime in and give you # of them made.If it well used,but in good working condition I'd guesstimate it to be worth around $200,the one I saw was about 90% and the guy wanted $350,with the scope and sling.
