Mines easy.

I'd collected better quality antique Winchesters forever. Well, until a fixed income on social insecurity priced me out of the market for even beaters...

I've always favored the smaller center fire cartridges such as 25 - 32 / 20 and 38 - 44 / 40 in levers. I've got a smattering of 1886, '94, '95 etc etc. in the bigger cals. as well. I also like slide action pumps in the earlier .22's.

Priced out of the closet queen antique Winchesters, I recently picked up a Marlin 27s / 25-20 M (25 WCF not RF) in a good solid 85-90% overall. It left the factory in mid production run. It's a sweet example.

My first, and so far, my favorite.

Now on to earlier 39a's dating to just pre-micro groove~ I might just find a new favorite.

Hard to choose, but I think my much modified first year 336A would be the pick.
Got more holes in it than the Titanic, garage done wood work, and recent color case hardening make it virtually worthless as a collector, but it is priceless to me.

I've got a little bit of everything. I love to shoot my 39a. My 99M1 with a Marlin scope and my 989M2 are a fun pair. My 336 in 30-30 is the first rifle I ever purchased. I have a Camp 9 and a 1994 in .357 that are both just beautiful and then I round it all out with a 55G 12 gauge. It's a nice collection. They are all shooters.

First and foremost is my early 1980s Model 39A. No safety or checkering, but great walnut. The second is the Marlin 1895S, followed by the Model 1895 Century Limited V. The 39A will always be number 1, but if I find a mint, late 70s-early 80s 336A rifle with 24" barrel in .35 Rem, it will go to number 2. If in .30-30. it will go to number 4.

My favorite Marlin is the one I have now.... over the years I have had a number of them, starting with a Model 57 which I bought from the Navy Exchange at Pearl Harbor in 1964, then a .44 Texan, traded those off and had a pump .22 Marlin (don't remember the model) for a while. Bought several 336s in .35 Remington during the early '70s but those ended up with my ex in our divorce. Since then I have had another handful, but only one at a time. Presently mine is one I bought from Walmart and had it bored out to .38-55 by Jesse. So right now it is my favorite!
