One of my buddies came across a Winchester 94 chambered in 264 Magnum. He can purchase it well below standard Winchester prices. I googled a little info on it and think that he should purchase it as trade bait or actually keep it as a great buy. Do any MO member have any experience or knowledge of this gun. I didn't get much info and believe it probably would require the 160 RN offering, although they made 100, 120 and 140 offerings. I'm not sure about the smaller bullet sizes being RN.

Gabby, are you sure you don't mean the Winchester Model 70 in .264 Winchester Magnum? The Winchester Model 94 was only offered in rimmed cartridges such as the 30-30 Win, 25-35 Win, 32-40, 38-55, .32 Win Special, .307 Win, .356 Win etc. The .264 Winchester Magnum is a belted magnum case based on the .300/375 H&H Magnum series of cartridges.

IF it is a 94 in 264 WM - I sure wouldn't shoot it! 264 WM pressure is WAY too high for a 94 action!

Could it be a Winchester Model 54 ? I think that is a bolt gun that could handle the 264 WM.

This thread makes absolutely no sense to me. The 264 Win Mag was not and cannot be chambered in the Win model 94. It's like saying I have a friend who has a chance to buy a Marlin 336 chambered in 7mm Rem Mag. The Winchester model 94 is the most popular lever gun ever made, I don't see how it could be confused with any other rifle.

Might have to wait for the OP to make a correction. But mean while...I've owned a 264Win Mag in the past. Not too many deer rifles are better on the open plains or mountains. The 129gr Hornady SP at 3200fps gets way out there in a hurry as flat as a string.

I'm going to get back with him tonight. I must be mistaken. However I didn't let the fact that its a belted bother me as a 450 is belted. He probably did mean a model 70.

I'm sorry for the miss information. We were talking about leverguns at the time and he mention he had the chance to buy a 264 Win Mag. I was thinking along the lines of a jacked up 250 savage. Any way it was a Pre 64 Model 70 Win. He missed the deal.
