Just thinking about getting out to some wild areas of WV and planning adventures. Anyone here from WV? I am in the messed up state of Maryland, where socialism rules! I am looking for some public hunting ground and thinking of Monongehela NF or Seneca State Forest down in Pocohontas County. Maybe up in Tucker as well. Anyone hunt those areas? Eventually I might be looking for a cabin out that way.

I'd get a little farther away from the east coast if possible. :)

Hey I am from wv originally, pocohontas has alot of deer. But very small in size. When we hunted there, you could just tie the feet together and throw them over your shoulder and walk out. They look a little funny actually. Cranberry glades is a great place to hunt. It a park. Bear, deer, etc. There are camping sites there for hunters. Very interesting place, vegetation there I have never seen anywhere else. Mcdowell co is a place you may want to check, I know there was no hunting there for years. We used to ride around at dark just to look at how big the deer were in that area. There were some monsters there. I havent been back in quite some time there, but was told they may have opened a bow only season. Check it out. Pipestem state park is also a place to check out. Some big deer there to, but you will have to get back in there deep. you cant actually hunt in the park area, but you can on the back side. The problem with pocohontas is that so many hunters line up to go there. Hope this helps.
